DreamChat Remote!
March 5th, 2001
The new "DreamChat Remote" is now available. Remote is similar to an "Instant Messenger" type system, but it works specifically with DreamChat. It will tell you if your friends are online, what chat room they are in, and allows you to join them or accept invitations from them. The remote may be accessed through the DreamChat Community system, and will launch automatically if you exit chat with the Logout button.
Ignore List Mods
March 3th, 2001
The "Ignore" feature has been updated so that it now "remembers" member ignore lists. This feature also works for Invitations, so if you have a user flagged for Ignore, they will not be able to send you invitations.
New Community Area!
March 1st, 2001
The new Community system is now online. New features include our "Friend Locator" which allows you to keep track of your friends online, a full discussion board "Nexus" system to allow easy browsing through message boards, a "Who's Online" feature to let you know who the participants are of each active chat room, and an upgraded profile search system with browsing ability. Either access the community from the button above, or from chat by clicking on your avatar in the lower-right corner of the chat interface.
Misc. Changes
February 25th, 2001
 • User Ban System: Now bans on the basis of name and/or IP address.
 • Chat Nexus: Updated with new pagination and sorting routines.
 • Help System: Now has a search feature to get help by keyword.
Sentinel Deployed
February 17th, 2001
Sentinel, DreamChat's new security and connection monitoring bot is now running. Sentinel can detect most user lockups caused by ISP failures, disconnects, and crashes. When a lockup is detected, Sentinel will allow the user's computer 60 seconds to recover, then automatically logs them out.
Macintosh Support
January 15th, 2001
DreamChat now supports Macintosh clients running Internet Explorer and Netscape (not Netscape 6.0 yet, it's still extremely buggy). Netscape runs a little better than Explorer, but neither support our skinset library. Both Mac browsers lack streaming ability, so a new type of polling system is being used for Mac Clients. Hopefully, Mac's browsers will catch up soon so we can fully support them.
